Carol is an ordained minister, practitioner, and facilitator of the Science of Mind philosophy, and has been teaching these classes for the past ten years, as well as mentoring on an individual basis. Her students are enthusiastically guided to synthesize the "spiritual" into the "practical" through understanding, awareness, and practice of Truth principles. Carol has expanded her ministry as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer for abused and neglected children who are wards of the court in Cook County, Illinois. She is also on the Board of Directors of The Chicago Sudbury School http://www.chicagosudburyschool.org, an alternative democratic school, where students 4-19 years of age learn "freely, yet responsibly" that "life is what you make it."

Our office hours are Monday through Thursday, 10:30 through 4:00. WHO ARE WE: We are a full functioning church with Revs. Dwight & Thelma Smith as its founding ministers. We have a staff of four ordained ministers: Revs. Arlene Barkley, Lydia Evans, Cassandra Huff, and Lisa Marks. All are trained in the Science of Mind principles espoused by/through Dr. Ernest Holmes. In addition, we have one certified Religious Science Practitioner. We have two services of celebration each Sunday: 9:30 led by our graduated ministers and ministerial students and 11:15 led by Thelma and Dwight on alternating Sundays. Our center offers certified classes in the Science of Mind following the curriculum of the Global Religious Science Ministries, our certifying organization. Beginning the week of September 13, 2004, we begin our certified classes in the Science of Mind. WHAT WE TEACH: "The study of the Science of Mind is a study of First Cause, Spirit, Mind, or that invisible Essence, that ultimate Stuff and Intelligence from which everything comes, the Power back of creationâ€"the Thing Itself." (Science of Mind, Page 26, paragraph 3) Everything that is in the physical has some First Cause back of it. If we desire to change the effect, we must go back to the originating Cause and change that which produces an automatic result, effect or condition. We teach/learn "how" to think. We celebrate our ten-year anniversary this year. OUR VISION: The Spiritual Mind Center is a Center of Light and Love and Divine Understanding. This Center draws to it a consistently growing number of people who are seeking what we have and are willing and able to support it with their time, talents, money, love and harmonious participation in all of its activities and we use these resources wisely and well. We honor these participants for their service with appreciation appropriately. This Center continues to expand and fulfill its purpose as a spiritual Center of Truth and Healing. It is divinely guided in all ways and its beautiful, welcoming energy embraces everyone who enters its atmosphere. All who come through its doors are blessed with fulfillment, health, happiness, prosperity, joy and love and it is an immediate experience. This Center blesses and is blessed in all ways for the highest good of all concerned. We accept and are grateful for our uplifting musical program. We are grateful that our Joy Club is supported financially and with consistent leadership and participants. The Spiritual Mind Center attracts the right person, and staff, for the administration of the Center's activities. We accept all of this good and are grateful for it!!
